It is a feature of magic selection tool, that you can select area bounded by line and beziers on flying without drawing it.

You will get the actual perimeter when you will clear noise by “Clear Noise” button.

“Calculate With Border” option is placed in Main Menu>Tools>Options>Magic Selection/Color Bucket Settings. For map measurement checking this option makes result more accurate.

First you have to select the region. Then clear noise. It will make a 1 px thick border of that region. Then with this selection image you can measure length through border.

It gets the DPI settings from scanned image to know real one inch on paper equal how many pixels on image. The DPI settings come from scanner and recorded in image file. For example, an image may be of 1,000 × 1,000 pixels. If it is labeled as 250 DPI, that is an instruction to Whoitam Image Measurement to measure it at a size of 4 × 4 inches. So, Whoitam Image Measurement can determine real one inch on scanned image by DPI. If you put real one inch of paper equal what is in your unit in real world as calibration, it will show the area or length in real world units (feet, mile, kilometer, decimal etc). So, just scan and open in Whoitam Image Measurement, because most of the image editors destroy the original DPI settings from scanner. It is similar to vb script. You can draw line, rectangle, triangle, circle, getcolor, set custom color to a point, font, font size etc with your own math. Loop, if statement etc. can be applied for your own calculation. In trail version you can run script 5 times per Instance.

You can merge image with adjusting position, angle, transparency, size of front image. Then you can measure the combined image.

The Adjust (Main Menu>Image>Adjust…) function is very useful. You can adjust brightness, contrast, gamma, hue, saturation with separately red, green, blue channel at a time. You will be able to show the preview same time

It supports images up to size of 3000x3000px. But don’t worry about images bigger than 3000x3000px. Big images will be automatically stretched to 3000px and the image resolution will be automatically adjusted according to new size. So, there is no need to change or adjust the calibration and you will be able to use all the features. If you want to measure a big image in original resolution then you can insert a 3000x3000px part of that image from Main Menu>File>Picture Viewer…
